Mold Removal Cost Calculator for Cartersville, GA

Mold prices vary a lot, and most pages give you a range wide enough to be useless. This calculator narrows it using what you can see: how big the area is, where it is, whether it is visible, how much porous material has to go, and whether the HVAC or testing are part of the job. Put in your numbers and you get a planning range and a list of what pushed it up.

Estimate your mold job

How the estimate is built

The calculator multiplies your square footage by a typical per-sq-ft range and then adds fixed items for the things that cost extra.

ItemTypical range
Mold remediation$10 to $30 per sq ft
Crawl space mold$500 to $2,000
HVAC and duct mold$3,000 to $10,000
Mold inspection$450 to $800

Three choices are ours, and we say so: no porous removal uses the lower half of the per-sq-ft range, heavy removal uses the upper half, and post-remediation testing is priced at the inspection fee which is the closest standard figure.

What makes a mold job cost more

  • Size. Mold on a bathroom ceiling is a morning. Mold across a basement wall is a week.
  • Porous materials. Drywall, carpet and insulation with mold growing in them are removed, not cleaned. Removal and disposal take labor.
  • Hidden growth. If we have to open walls to find it, the job grows.
  • Access. A crawl space with eighteen inches of clearance is slower than a room you can stand in.
  • Ducts. Mold in the HVAC adds equipment and duct work.
  • Moisture. If the water source is not fixed, the mold comes back. Fixing it is a separate cost.

What insurance usually covers and does not

Policies differ, so check yours. In general, mold that follows a sudden covered event, such as a burst pipe, may be covered at least in part. Mold from a slow leak or from long-term humidity often is not. Flood coverage is a separate policy, and the Georgia Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner notes that most policies do not cover losses from natural disasters such as floods. Call your agent before you start, and keep photos and receipts.

Why Cartersville mold jobs can cost differently

Crawl spaces over clay soil hold moisture, and getting into one takes time and a mess. Older homes in town often have ductwork under the floor, where mold on the underside of the subfloor can reach the HVAC. Red clay mud tracked through the work area adds cleanup. Newer houses with finished basements have drywall and carpet where mold hides. These are reasons the range is only a starting point.

How to get an accurate mold quote

  1. Have the moisture source found and fixed or at least identified.
  2. Take photos of every area where you see mold.
  3. Note any smell, and where it is strongest.
  4. Tell the company whether the HVAC ran while it was wet.
  5. Ask what is included: removal, cleanup, HEPA air filtration, disposal and any testing.
  6. Ask for a written scope, not just a number.

Read the mold removal page for what the work involves, or see Emerson and Kingston for local notes.

Calculator questions

Is this a quote?
No. It is a planning range. Call for an on-site assessment to get a firm number.
Why is the crawl space a flat range?
A crawl space job is usually priced as a flat range instead of a per-sq-ft rate, so the calculator does the same.
Does the range include repairs after the mold is gone?
No. New drywall, paint, flooring and insulation are separate from mold removal.
Will insurance cover mold removal?
It depends on the policy and on where the water came from. Mold after a covered sudden loss may be treated differently from mold from a slow leak. Ask your agent.
